HEYSHAM villagers were celebrating this week following the opening of their new heritage centre.
After years of campaigning, the heritage centre was finally opened to the public at a special ceremony involving the mayor Cllr Sybil Rostron.
Housed in a barn in the centre of the village, it contains displays tracing the village's rich history and also a child's activity room upstairs.
The campaign to develop the centre was led by the Heysham Heritage Centre.
