BLACKPOOL Council voted not to ban the use of electric goads on other animals at Blackpool Zoo in a meeting at the town hall on Wednesday (April 19).
In the latest development in the goads saga Councillor Peter Wood put forward a motion to ban the wider use of electric prods, which Labour voted against.
Coun Wood shook the local political world earlier this year when he defected from Labour to the Liberal Democrats after saying he was forced to vote against his conscience.
He said that after the initial decision not to ban goads, zoo manager Iain Valentine said they might be used on other animals too.
Speaking after yesterday's meeting Coun Wood said: "I am disappointed, obviously. If I had my way I would ban the use of goads altogether.
"I would have brought this up if I could, but the three-month rule prevented me from doing so."
The three month rule dictates no item can be brought up in meetings until three months have passed since it was first raised.
