THE Freehold Community Association has been accepted onto the Community Forum for the Single Regeneration Budget (SRB) in Lancaster.
The charity owns and runs the Gregson Community & Arts Centre, and the move means that Gregson members now have the opportunity to put forward ideas about how the local community can be improved.
The SRB is government money which will be used to encourage local employment and improve neighbourhood and community facilities.
In the past Morecambe has benefited from an SRB which went towards the regeneration of the town especially in the West End.
Neighbourhood schemes in that area included play facilities for children, 'pocket parks' (ie small green areas with benches), traffic calming, wall murals, funding towards a community centre and general upgrading of certain properties.
Anyone with any ideas for small projects which will improve the community should fill in the feedback forms and pass them on as soon as possible so that they can be forwarded to the forum.
