TAXI driver Pete Reidy (pictured) so impressed a passenger when he played a tape of one of his songs in his cab that she persuaded him to sing it on the radio.
And so successful was his debut on air that Pete, who records songs at his home in Stuart Road, Cleveleys, is now busy making an album.
Pete said: "I just happened to be playing my song, That's What Mothers Do, in my cab when a passenger said she liked it and asked who it was by.
"When I told her it was me she was amazed and asked if she could have a copy.
"She also told me to play it on the Give it A Go programme on Radio Lancashire.
"I am glad I did because I got a brilliant response from listeners. Loads of people rang me asking for a copy. It really was incredible. "The response was so good I had to get some CDs and tapes made because I only actually had a demo tape."
Pete is no stranger to the music scene having played guitar in the Blackpool trio Flyx for 13 years but has only taken up serious song writing since the band split up last year.
He has written a song called When The Loving Stops for Irish country star Dominic Kirwan but when told it was not going to feature on his album Pete decided to put it on his own four track CD.
Now he is hard at work writing a new album. He adds: "I think the songs are popular because people can relate to them in their own lives.
"They are mostly ballads but I am trying to write some faster songs to add a touch of variety. If the album sells well then may be one day I might be able to become a full-time song writer and performer."
