THE general election is getting near. So to the people of this area a warning.

Remember the Labour Party promises at the last election.

Better health service. Result -- a worse state.

Better roads -- no improvement.

Better railways -- in chaos under Prescott.

The Labour Party promised a vote for the people on whether or not to have the Euro currency.

Considering that we voted Labour into power for five years the date for this promised vote should be settled in this Parliament, not the next or the next. As Blair said, it's not his choice but the people's.

Gordon Brown promised the pensioners a better deal early last year. In April we received a pittance pension rise £2 or £3 per week. Now we are being insulted with a diabolical rise of 75p.

In other words Brown wants some of that £100 fuel money back he gave us last year.

I voted Labour in the last election but not this coming one. So I suggest all pensioners do the same -- give Blair and co a kick up the backside.

Mr A. Alman,

Thornton Cleveleys.
