I WAS in my bank, the Royal Bank of Scotland, when I was informed that from the beginning of May the Bury branch will not have any counter service on a Saturday.
It would appear that to draw out money I will have to use a cash-point machine, which I do not wish to use, and to pay in cash or cheques I will have to put them in a bank envelope and pop them down a chute.
I wonder if anybody else feels that banking is just another aspect of life where the customer takes a back seat. The banks just do what they want irrespective of how this affects anyone else. Branches are either closing down entirely or their opening hours are so unfriendly that they might as well close!
Never mind shortening the hours that they are in contact with the general public, they should be working at least one late night. Maybe bank staff should realise that very soon we really won't need any of them as every transaction will be computerised.
