A BURNLEY motor group is re-programming customers' car stereos for charity.
Forgetful drivers have so far benefited the children's ward at Burnley General Hospital to the tune of more than £200.
Each time a car battery goes flat or is disconnected the vehicle's radio has to be re-coded.
Said Gary Patchett, general service manager of Horners Burnley Ltd, of Accrington Road, Burnley: "Although the code is provided among the literature that comes with a new car this information is usually mislaid or not passed on when the car is sold.
"Until recently we charged nothing for this service but so many of our customers insisted on paying that we decided to charge £5-a-time and give all the money to the children's ward at Burnley Hospital.
Paul Sewell, operations director at Horners, said: "This is such a common problem that we are sure that the funds willl soon mount up."
