A PROBATION officer has vowed that he will not be hanging up his walking boots for good, after taking on his last sponsored challenge.
Graham Fletcher, 63, of Compston Avenue, Rossendale, is gearing up to brave the 14 Welsh mountain peaks in Snowdonia from tomorrow until Friday, to raise £1,000 for eight new beds for Nightsafe, the Blackburn organisation which helps the homeless.
His friend, Peter Bartlett, of Church Street, Crawshawbooth, will join him. They are being sponsored by St Mary and All Saints Church, Goodshaw, and St John's Church, Crawshawbooth, family and friends.
Graham, who has also cycled from Goodshaw Church to York Minster for the Church Urban Fund, said: "I'm not going to stop walking as a hobby, but I've got to stop doing sponsored events at some point. "
Sponsors can contact Nightsafe on 01254 587687 or Graham on 01706 220768.
