(abandoned after 15 mins, pitch waterlogged) CLITHEROE's end of season has been delayed due to a freak downpour which put paid to Saturday's home clash with Newcastle Town.
Torrential rain just prior to kick off left the pitch unplayable and the match now looks set to go ahead on Wednesday night.
"Everything was fine until about half an hour to the start when the heavens opened and there was a real storm," said Clitheroe manager Steve Parry, who will part company with Clitheroe once this final match has been played. "The referee took us off after about quarter of an hour to see if things would ease but, if anything, conditions worsened. By the time the game was abandoned and we had got changed the bottom half of the pitch was like a lake."
