TRAINEE plumber Gillian Dickinson (pictured) is urging other teenagers to tap into her career success.
Gillian began a modern apprenticeship after leaving Our Lady & St John High School in Blackburn with 11 GCSE's.
She is now working towards an NVQ level three in mechanical engineering services and plumbing.
And the 17-year-old from Knuzden believes the XTEND modern apprenticehsip programme for young people in East Lancashire is an excellent option.
"I decided to become a plumber after getting involved in a bit of DIY at home and I opted for a modern apprenticehip because I knew professional training would be vital if I was to achieve my ambition," said Gillian.
Gillian works for Hyndburn Borough Council and is studying on day release at Accrington & Rossendale College.
