MAY I offer sincere thanks to Ultraframe boss Mr John Lancaster for making it possible to keep Clitheroe's Cinema open.
It is the only one in East Lancashire where British and foreign films are shown.
There is no point in the Government subsidising the British film industry when we cannot watch British films. Cinemas in Blackburn, Burnley, Preston and other surrounding towns are owned by the American film industry for the distribution of their own films.
British films such as 'Mrs Brown' and 'East is East' were shown for one day only at these cinemas.
Mrs Janet Anderson MP should be invited to the reopening of the Clitheroe cinema to learn of the difficulties that independent cinemas have to face. Perhaps she can persuade the British Film Institute to include it in their grant programme.
