Haydock 20
Roose 1 HAYDOCK won their final league match to set up a Premier Division title play-off with Thatto Heath.
In terrible conditions Haydock played basic rugby, and kept things simple - which paid off. They took the lead with a penalty goal from after eight minutes. Roose replied with a drop goal.
Roose had plenty ball early on but good tackling by Cahlin, Carroll, Kelsey and Bloor kept them out. After 20 Cahlin charged down a kick and passed to Boland who went 25 yards to score a good try, Ireland converted.
Winger Tickle was making good ground and Haydock increased their lead with a drop goal from Haughey to lead 9-1 at half-time.
Haydock never really looked in trouble and Boland dropped another goal to put them 10-1 in front. After 55 minutes good passing across the line saw Bloor burst through from 20 yards out to score. Ireland converted.
Then Boland sent a good pass out to Hill who scored wide out to make it 20-1 to Haydock with 15 minutes to go.
Outstanding for Haydock were Kelsey, Bloor, Tickle, Boland and Dolan. Haydock under nines 20
