A PENWORTHAM woman is to receive an award from Princess Anne for her dedication to the Royal National Lifeboat Service.
Pat Dewhurst has been honorary secretary of the RNLI Penwortham branch since 1974.
She will be presented with the charity's gold award on Thursday, May 18, in London.
The Princess Royal will present the awards at the RNLI's prestigious annual general meeting at the Barbican Centre.
The event recognises not only the bravery of lifeboat crews, but also the tireless efforts of the charity's 1,500 fund-raising branches.
More than a fifth of the charity's income is raised by volunteers and they also manage and operate the 223 lifeboat stations.
