HUSBAND-AND-WIFE team Doug and Sandra Hayes (pictured) are to become the new Mayor and Mayoress of Hyndburn.
Their appointment comes four years after an election defeat stopped them taking on the roles.
Hyndburn councillors Doug and Sandra, of Kingfisher Court, Oswaldtwistle, are will be installed as the borough's mayor and mayoress next month.
The Conservative couple are currently deputy mayor and mayoress, a role which they also enjoyed in 1995.
But they missed the chance to become mayor and mayoress the following year when they were both beaten at the local elections.
Next year's deputy mayor is set to be Huncoat ward councillor Dave Parkins, who is on the council's Labour group. The nominations were approved at a full council meeting.
The appointments will be made formally at the mayoral election ceremony at Accrington Town Hall on May 24.
