STAFF at Bury-based stockbrokers James Sharp & Co have shared in a coveted quiz win.
They were among the teams drawn from the town's business community which took part in the annual general knowledge quiz, hosted by Bury legal firm Clough & Willis.
The quiz has become a regular feature in the local business calendar and the questions were the usual crop of obscure and arcane.
Winners for the past two years, the Bury Times team, once again gave a strong
performance.
But they were under strength and were overwhelmed by teams keen for revenge after previous years.
Questions included "Whose biography is called "Waxmaker Extraordinary?" Answer: Madame Tussaud and "Who was the Queen of mean, wife of an American property tycoon who said "only little people pay taxes" and was sent
to prison for tax evasion?" Answer: Leonna Helmsley.
After a hard fought battle the wimnning team from James Sharp & Co collected bottles of champagne from senior partners John Watson and Alan Maden.
Quiz master and Clough & Willis partner Tim Gray, said: "We like to provide an opportunity
to thank the people we have worked with throughout the year.
"All of Clough & Willis are pleased that once again so many local businesses rose to the challenge and we shall be waiting to see who can take the cup away from James Sharp next year."
