Ruskin Park XV 15 Rhyl 5 IN a game which started in heavy rain and finished in brilliant sunshine, Ruskin gained a well deserved victory.
The only score in a tight first quarter came from a Stu Fisher penalty, but following a break-down in a Rhyl attack, the same player was sent on a 50-yard dash to the line by a slick pass from Paul Fenney. Fisher converted, but was unable to add the extras to the next try. This came about from the best move of the match. Joey Hull burst through in mid field, fed Paul Unsworth, and his superb off-load sent Lou Kwasniki on a 40-yard run to the corner.
With a 15-point advantage, it seemed Ruskin were on the way to a big win, but the Welsh side had other ideas. They proceeded to dominate the whole of the second half, and but for some magnificent tackling by the whole Ruskin side must surely have won. Their only reward, however, was a late interception try by wingman Evans.
