PUPILS from Hodgson High School, in Poulton, spent a day at the Dome recently and quite literally had a ball!
Children's favourite science teacher Johnny Ball gave pupils a science lesson to remember at the infamous London landmark as part of a nationwide education programme "Engineering our Future".
The programme, designed by BAE Systems and the New Millennium Experience Company, aims to encourage more people to become engineers as currently only six per cent of university graduates are engineers.
Various exhibits in the mind zone were used to teach children the wonders of science, including the giant sculpture "Boy".
Mick Smedley, a teacher at Hodgson, commented: "The students got a tremendous amount out of the lesson, which helped bring the exhibits within the mind zone to life."
And the man himself Johnny Ball enthused: "We need to show kids how exciting science and technology can be. That is exactly what Engineering our Future is doing, which is why I am thrilled to be part of it."
