A MOTOR cyclist is in hospital with serious injuries after a collision with a fire engine.
The accident happened at 9pm on Wednesday (April 26) in Ringley Road, at Outwood, Radcliffe.
The fire engine from Farnworth Station was preparing to turn at a road junction when it was in collision with the motorbike.
The injured man is Joe Barrington, aged 30, of Woodley Avenue, Radcliffe.
Firefighters, who were en route to a barn fire, jumped from their vehicle to treat the injured man as he lay in the road.
The road was sealed off and paramedics arrived within minutes.
Mr Barrington suffered multiple injuries including fractures to his elbows and hip. He also suffered a head injury.
He was being treated in North Manchester General hospital in Crumpsall.
No firefighters were injured in the accident, which is still being investigated.
