A YOUNG gun could go for it as the Shakers entertain Reading in their last home game of the season tomorrow.
Player-boss Andy Preece is unlikely to make too many changes to the side that ran out impressive 2-0 winners at relegation threatened Cardiff on Easter Monday.
But Preece is a little limited for choice up front. Paul Barnes is still struggling with an ankle injury and that means Preece only has himself and Baichung Bhutia as the only out-and-out strikers with first team experience available.
Kemajl Avdiu and two-goal Ninian Park hero Adrian Littlejohn, who can both play on the wing or up front, will be in the frame, but Lee Buggie, who was on the bench at Cardiff, and another youngster, Adam Martin, could also feature in some way.
Paul Reid and Lutel James serve the final match of their suspensions and Paul Williams is still struggling to shake off the hamstring injury he picked up against Blackpool last Saturday.
Preece is aiming to finish on a high. With no decision definitely made on the management set-up for next season, Preece is keen for both the team and himself to finish on a high. Preece showed his passion with a victory salute in front of the main stand at Ninian Park on Monday, and he said: "We get pleasure from every victory. Now we just want finish on a high.
""We want to win as many games as we can. Teams that finish the season well usually strat the new campaign well too. We want to show that there is a bit of potential for next season and that might encourage more supporters to buy their season tickets.
"We want to finish in the top half of the table. That is our target now."
The last target Bury hit led to Preece shaving his head! "I have been saying all along that if we got to 52 points I would shave my hair off," said Preece.
They achieved that with the 3-2 win over Blackpool last Saturday and Preece had a full head of hair afterwards.
The team travelled to South Wales on Sunday, so where did Andy get his head shaved over the Easter weekend with no barber's open?
"I have my own shaver, so off it came," explained Preecey. Well that was h-Andy wasn't it?
Reading manager Alan Pardew is also set to experiment with no less than SEVEN changes imminent.
Leading scorer and skipper Darren Caskey will play. The former Tottenham Hotspur youngster has hit 21 goals from the right side of midfield this season.
Reading are 12th on 58 points, three in front of Bury, who are 15th. Reading are aiming for a top ten finish, but that won't stop Pardew blooding some of his kids too tomorrow.
