LEIGH residents have walk-in access to health services thanks to a new information centre in town.
It has been opened in Leigh Library by the Wigan and Bolton Health Authority, and will be open during library hours.
The centre will provide a new and important
source of information and advice including:
Purchasing NHS pre-payment certificates (season tickets)
Obtaining exemption certificates from prescription charges
Ordering NHS medical cards
Help in changing GP or obtaining NHS dental treatment
Obtaining general health information or signposting to other health or health related agencies.
Chairman of the Health Authority, Jean Garlick, said: "This is a new and exciting development. For the first time local people will have access to the services of the authority on a walk-in basis."
Opening hours are Monday, Thursday and Friday 9.30am to 7pm, Tuesday 10am to 7pm, Wednesday 9.30am to 5pm and Saturday 10am to 3.30pm.
