A TERRIFIED pensioner was dragged along the floor as she bravely tried to stop a thief from snatching her handbag, as she waited for a bus in Sutton, St Helens.
The theft happened on Saturday at 12.10pm in Gartons Lane when the 68-year-old woman suddenly felt a tug on her bag and turned to see a man trying to snatch it. The plucky pensioner gripped tight but lost her footing and the man pulled her along the ground. The thief made his escape with the bag, which contained £70 in cash, gas and electric cards and an insulin injector.
ANYONE in the area at the time is asked to contact DC Aidan Lavin at St Helens CID on 0151 777 6876 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
