A PENSIONER died in a freak accident in the driveway of his home.
Norman Oldham, 79, of Rochdale Road, Edenfield, was standing on a four-feet high wooden fence measuring a car port when the fence collapsed.
Mr Oldham fell backwards on to the concrete path suffering severe head injuries. Police were told at 3pm yesterday that a man had been found collapsed in the driveway.
Paramedics were called but he was already dead.
A police spokesman said there were no suspicious circumstances. The incident has been reported to East Lancashire Coroner David Smith.
