BLACKBURN with Darwen's annual green festival gets under way on May 13.
GreenWeek is now in its 10th year and features a wide range of environment-themed activities. Steve Lee, the council's community events co-ordinator, said: "Much of the emphasis of the week is encouraging our residents to participate in community activities with an eco-friendly theme. "We have something for everyone during the week, including flower tub and bulb planting, litter picks, walks and rambles around the borough and environmental cleansing and earth healing workshops. "Together with theatrical workshops performed by Talia Theatrum, our first GreenWeek of the Millennium promises to be the best." One of the biggest events of the festival is an environmental fun day on Sunday, May 14, at Witton Country Park.
