THE Cricket-loving Mayor of Hyndburn, Councillor Bernard Dawson, launched a new book celebrating the Accrington and District Cricket League's 100th season of competition.
The book, From Little Acorns, was written by cricket fan Nigel Stockley (pictured), of Moss Hall Road, Accrington.
Nigel, who is a Lancashire Evening Telegraph community correspondent, is a stalwart of 24 seasons of the league.
He said he was very pleased that the book had been so well received.
"It seems that just about everyone in Accrington knows somebody who is featured in the book," he said
"The Mayor himself told me that he had played in the Midweek League in his younger days."
The launch took place at the tourist information centre at Accrington Town Hall.
Coun Dawson also opened a display of photographs and cuttings on the league, dating from 1891, which will be on show at the centre for the next month.
From Little Acorns is available from the tourist information centre in Accrington, Oswaldtwistle Mills, David Pratt's Sports Shop in Blackburn and Accrington, Church, Baxenden and Oswaldtwistle Immanuel Cricket Clubs, priced £6.
