HISTORIC banners are being used to help publicise the modern trades union movement in a display in the foyer at Burnley Thompson Leisure Centre.
The exhibition which was held on two days last week and again yesterday and today has attracted a great deal of interest especially among youngsters said Terry Burns, secretary of the Burnley branch of the AUEW.
He said: "The display has been organised by Burnley Trades Council to show youngsters the benefits of being a member of a modern trade union."
Banners on display included the Lucas Aerospace banner used at rallies when the company had 3,000 workers in the town and a UCAT banner used by town hall staff.
The unions have made a donation to the Mayor of Burnley's charity fund for the use of the Thompson centre.
