OLD traditions were re-lived in Burnley when children from Christ the King Primary School danced around the maypole at the Weavers' Triangle Visitor Centre.
The girls performed traditional maypole dances while the boys pretended to be dancing bears -- a May Day custom from the first part of the 20th century which is believed to be unique to the Burnley area.
The first of the season's guided walks through the Weavers' Triangle also took place.
A new exhibition at the centre entitled Burnley 1901-2000, features photographs, souvenirs and industrial artifacts to illustrate the many changes which have taken place in the town during the last 100 years.
The centre will be open between 2pm and 4pm, Saturday to Wednesday, until the end of September.
Eight-year-old Grace Rowan, front, pictured with other Christ the King pupils, was crowned May Queen for the day.
