A GROUP of childcare assistants are celebrating after chalking up an award.
The eight, who all work at nurseries and primary schools in Nelson, Colne and Reedley, have achieved level three NVQs in Early Years Care and Education. The course, funded through ELTEC's Out-of-School Childcare training Initiative, covered areas including child protection and emotional development.
"We want parents in East Lancashire to be able to go to work with the reassurance that their children have professional supervision and care during school holidays and after school hours," said Heather Halstead from ELTEC. "This can only be achieved if there are childcare clubs available with fully qualified staff."
