I WAS really pleased to hear, as were many other people, that Jack Walker is now on the mend after being diagnosed with what would be to most of us, our worst nightmare.
Isn't it just typical of the man, though, to make it plain, and clear: "I'm sorry I won't be able to attend the last few matches of the season."
If any apology is needed, the last person to deliver it to the supporters of Blackburn Rovers is Jack Walker.
Standing at the front of an extremely long queue, however, must surely be the vast majority of the first team who consistently under-perform, who couldn't give a toss about the Blue and White halves, who repeatedly make their vacuous statements about their levels of commitment, while most of the time counting their salaries which resemble a South American telephone number.
I hope Tony Parkes got it wrong on Saturday when he said Graeme Souness was not planning on a big clear-out at the end of the season.
It pains me to say it but Stan Ternent got it dead right when he uttered his infamous "these players will not play for Burnley again" speech -- it was a turning point.
I do feel our turning point should be on Sunday when we bury Manchester City, pack Ewood Park, prove to people that we are not an easy touch, and bring a wry smile to a certain man at his Jersey home.
