CARL Fogarty has been ruled out of racing for another two months.
The World Superbike champion was told the devastating news by a specialist, who examined his fractured arm in Oxford yesterday.
That means the earliest he could race would be at Laguna Seca on July 9.
But that might still prove too early and a more likely return date would be at Brands Hatch on August 9.
Fogarty is determined to race again and the extended lay-off opens up the possibility of one more full season.
Wife Michaela said today: "I spoke with Davide Tardozzi last night.
"They want him 200 per cent next year but Carl is not even thinking about that at the moment. He's concentrating on his recovery.
"There is only 10 per cent strength in the bone at the moment because it was such a bad fracture and where it is on the arm.
"If he does anything more than he should to it, it could snap again and be a mess to fix.
"He will go back to Oxford every two weeks for an X-ray to make sure the bone attaches itself properly.
"We have got to make sure it's growing back together as it should do.
"It's just a case of having patience and accepting it."
