SAY hello to a classic Ealing comedy set in the sweltering English summer of 1949.
Or rather, say "bonjour" as a distinguished British identity is thrown into question when Passport To Pimlico comes to the Grand Theatre.
When an unexploded bomb is accidentally detonated in the London borough of Pimlico it reveals a hidden treasure trove and an ancient document which claims the area actually belongs to the Duke of Burgundy.
Are the residents of Pimlico really Burgundians, descendants of a nation of beret wearing garlic lovers? Are clothing coupons, bowler hats, street parties and post-war Britain a thing of the past?
Passport To Pimlico is the latest production from Charles Vance, and it follows his success with Kind Hearts And Coronets and The Ladykillers.
It boasts a cast of stars from a variety of genres, including Ian Lavender of Dad's Army fame and Kate O'Mara from Dynasty. Also look out for Lee Warburton from Coronation Street and the controversial Queer As Folk, and Julie Buckfield from Grange Hill and Hollyoaks.
Passport to Pimlico runs nightly from Tuesday May 9 until Saturday May 13, with matinee performances on Wednesday and Saturday afternoon. Tickets are priced from £8 and can be obtained by calling the Grand box office on 290190.
