AVENHAM'S gloomy high-rise tower blocks are about to be given a bright new image as part of the estate's multi-million pound improvement scheme.
Work is due to start on the transformation of Carlisle House, the first of three tower blocks to be improved.
Residents have worked closely with staff and architects to help chose and design the new features.
Improvements include a safer, brighter entrance lobby, a new roof feature, outside cladding and a fresh external colour scheme of blue, grey and white.
The residents will also get new kitchens and bathrooms and brighter, more inviting communal areas.
The work is being carried out by AvenQuest Homes, the local housing company set up to manage the estate by new landlords Collingwood Housing. The improvements are due to take 12 months.
