BURY woman Carolyn Brooks has been appointed the town's business development worker by the Prince's Trust.
Her new role will involve advising young people looking for support from the Trust, a national charity which provides financial and business support to young people.
She will be working from the Business Link offices in Walmersley Road, Bury, and her first task will involve raising awareness in the community about the Trust by visiting job centres and talking to young people.
Carolyn's position is supported with funding from the European Regional Development Fund and the Single Regeneration Budget.
Having lived in Bury for most of her life, Carolyn brings valuable experience to the Trust. She has worked for Transmission Design Service, a family engineering business, and brings her skills in charity work from time spent working at Dr Barnardos.
Commenting on her new role, Prince's Trust senior area manager Ted Rowlands said: "Carolyn's appointment is a real boost for young people looking for business support in Greater Manchester.
"She will join our team of advisers who provide valuable expertise and advice to assist with the development of new business."
He added: "Carolyn will be an excellent addition to the Business Link team and her experience with small businesses and charities will be a great asset to young people in the local community looking for help from the Prince's Trust."
The Trust is a charity which provides bursaries and low interest loans to 18-30 year-olds, disadvantaged or disabled people in the North West.
Financial and business support is on offer to young people who have a passion for business but find it difficult to obtain the help they need.
Carolyn can be contacted at Business Link Bury on 0845 6016010.
