RAINFORD CC's season finally got under way on Saturday in a rain-delayed game at Croston.
Skipper Ste Harrison elected to bat and saw his side rattle up an impressive 175-2 with Robinson (77), Calland (43) and Cook (35) all turning in useful performances.
The home side then struggled against a tight Rainford attack and could only muster 75-5 at the close to give Rainford the lion's share of the points.
On Sunday, Rainford travelled to Chorley in pursuit of the Abbott Ale National Knockout but sadly fell victim to their Northern League opponents in a tight first round contest. Rainford did well to reach 148-9, thanks mainly to a solid 56 from Harrison and it was only with eight balls remaining that Chorley reached their target to score a five wicket success.
The WJ Perkins Second XI fixture on Saturday was abandoned due to a waterlogged pitch.
