ALTERNATIVES to a capitalist economy will be discussed at a public meeting at the Albert Inn, Lancaster, next Tuesday, May 9.
Entitled "May Day and Anti-capitalism - What Next?" it has been organised by the Socialist Party.
A spokesman said: "We wanted to give local people a chance to speak out and express their concerns about the way capitalism is driving the earth to destruction and we also wanted to present a united front in condemning local politicians for deliberately avoiding any mention of large-scale issues which affect us all.
He added: "The question is no longer whether capitalism can be reformed into something that works well and for most people, because it's become obvious that that's impossible.
"Now the question is to find something altogether better, and we don't think that's impossible."
The discussion starts at 8.30pm and for further information call 381329.
