FOOTBALL-mad girls have been given the chance to score with a new team.
The Higher Folds Action Group has started to put together an over 14s girls' squad, Higher Folds United, which will play in the North West Ladies' League.
The side has been formed as a result of a public meeting in March which was organised to discover what activities were called for the estate.
Coach to the Higher Folds United boys' squad, Mike Jenkins, said: "Several girls at the meeting showed an interest in playing football, so we thought we'd try and organise a team.
"Players don't have to live on the estate. Any girl over 14 will be welcome."
Girls' team founder Pamela Leigh added: "Boys get the chance to play football, girls don't. We want that chance."
Training will be on Saturdays at the Queensway Field on Higher Folds.
