BRAVE Jenny Coughlin has set aside personal problems to take British swimming by storm.
The 16-year-old from Tyldesley SC, suffering from visual impairment, featured in the British Blind Sports Nationals in Wolverhampton. And in her first comp since her disability was diagnosed Jenny was an outstanding success.
Her record-breaking form saw her set a British record in the 50 butterfly and THREE European records in the 100 backstroke and butterfly and the 200 individual medley.
It looks like being a top year for Tyldesley.
The club has achieved a rare double honour with two of its swimmers, Kelly Banner and Khalid Jhugroo, selected as captains of the Central Lancashire team for 2000.
The pair will lead the 100-strong squad, aged 11-15 years, in an inter-association gala at Everton Park.
Other Tyldesley swimmers selected for the squad are James Gendall, Michelle Greensmith, Jessica Howarth, Matthew Kearns, Sean Peers, Charlotte Steele, Samantha Thompson and Sarah Wood.
