CHIRPY Cockneys Chas n' Dave delighted a packed audience with a good old fashioned knees up at the Grand Theatre on Sunday (April 30).
Celebrating 25 years together, the duo, backed up of course by Mick on drums, played their full set of Rockney sing-a-long favourites from their first hit Gertcha to Rabbit, London Girl and, due to popular demand, Snooker Loopy.
The show opened with a set by comedian Peter Anthony which probably went on too long but only made the music more enjoyable when it came.
Chas and his mate have not had much chart success since the last time Spurs made the FA Cup Final but gave us a set of compulsively foot-tapping favourites.
A medley of wartime songs and other easy listening songs was probably the weaker part of the set.
They finished with a rousing rendition of Ain't No Pleasing You -- but given the reception they received at the end their fans would be more than pleased to welcome them back up north any time they like.
