Prescot Cables 1
Glossop North End 2 THIS was a disappointing end to a season that was turned around after a disastrous opening by the appointment of Tommy Lawson as manager in mid-September.
Prescot should have been 3-0 up in the opening 15 minutes. Heavey beat the keeper with a shot from 15 yards but saw the ball come back off the post.
Within a minute, Prescot opened the scoring when Stanton hit a 20-yard drive that left the keeper floundering. O'Callaghan brought a fumbled save from the keeper in another Prescot attack and then he struck a superb shot on the turn which the keeper got a hand to and pushed onto the post. Heavey somehow hit the rebound over the bar from only five yards out.
Glossop responded positively and when Ringland was left unmarked at the back post he scored with a simple header to level the scores after 19 minutes.
Glossop took the lead after 33 minutes when a mix-upallowed Hamilton to steal the ball and shoot home from 15-yards.
In the second half, Merrick had only three saves to make as Prescot struggled to get any fluency into their game. Glossop posed even less threat as an attacking force than Prescot.
