"LOYAL Bury Supporter" (Your Letters, May 2) asks people to write to the Bury Times to let them know how we feel about the fortunes of Bury FC.
LBS makes an issue out of what Mr Robinson earns for his services to the club and questions whether he should be rewarded quite so handsomely for running the company.
LBS gives credit to Mr Robinson only for the appointment of Stan Ternent when the majority of our supporters know that his work and dedication have brought much more than that.
We only have to take the opening of the new Cemetery Stand last Saturday to witness the effort this man has made to turn the Gigg Lane stadium into one to be proud of. According to the match day programme, Mr Robinson brought in £1.5 million to build that stand and in total has brought in more than £3 million to re-develop the stadium. During the past ten years I have had some fantastic moments supporting my team. I have been proud to be associated with a club that, against all the odds, has managed to play against the best, and beat them. We have managed to survive to the point that we have left other clubs trailing behind. Maybe LBS didn't go to Blackpool, Cardiff, Chesterfield or Oxford and witness their set-ups and teams. And these clubs are backed by millionaires!
Twelve months ago, Terry Robinson was faced with the Hugh Eaves saga which could have ruined Bury Football Club, and still could. But Terry has handled the situation with magnificent professionalism and managed to keep the dignity of the club intact.
We have seen youngsters break into the team and Andy Preece seems to be winning over the Bury supporters with each succeeding week. I, like every other supporter, wants my team to perform well and reach the highest possible position in the league, but that will only be achieved by support and not the negative response that LBS seeks from fans.
F. BOOTH, Bury New Road, Prestwich.
