PILKINGTONS had to use a computer back-up system after its HQ on Prescot Road, St Helens, was struck by lightning on Wednesday, April 26.
The computer system suffered a dip in power for two seconds. A spokesman for the company said full back-up systems became operational to ensure that the computing services were controlled and no data lost. Production and shipping of glass was not affected.
