BLACKBURN Rovers are considering plans to stage some of their reserve team fixtures away from Ewood Park next season.

Concerns over the state of the pitch have forced the club to view the possibility of giving Ewood a mid-winter break.

And that means second string games between December and February could be staged at an alternative venue, like Blackpool's Bloomfield Road.

Chief Executive John Williams today admitted he had 'mixed feelings' over the proposals and would prefer to play all reserve matches at Ewood.

But he revealed the club have got to balance the best interests of the fans with what's best for the club.

"I have mixed feelings on this," said Williams.

"It's important for our fans to have an opportunity to see our reserves as often as possible.

"But having said that, we have got to balance that against looking after the pitch.

"And, although we won the award for the best pitch in the First Division last year, it did suffer quite a bit over the course of the season."

Rovers are currently considering a number of possible alternatives.

But it is believed that Bloomfield is definitely being viewed as one possible option.
