CRASH victim John Driver was depressed at not being able to find suitable work, an inquest at Burnley was told.
Mr Driver, 24, a landscape gardener of Essex Street, Barnoldswick, died when the Fiat Uno he was driving went out of control at a roundabout in Colne Road, Kelbrook, in the early hours of Monday and collided with a wall.
Alan Tudor, of Park Street, Barnoldswick, told East Lancashire Coroner David Smith that his stepson was fit and active with no medical problems.
He had suffered from depression as far as they were aware because he was having difficulty in finding suitable employment. "He was just depressed and a bit fed up" said Mr Tudor.
He was seen by his sister Lyndsey on Saturday when he seemed perfectly alright. Mr Smith adjourned the hearing until police complete their investigation into the accident.
No other vehicle was involved.
Police have appealed for witnesses to the accident or anyone who saw the red Fiat Uno shortly before the crash at 2.45am on Monday.
