STANLEY Park was the location for the Blackpool Rugby League Sevens competition took place on Saturday (May 27).
And it was Queensbury, who hail from Bradford, who ran away victors in the competition which saw 16 teams competing for honours.
But it was nearly local side Blackpool RUFC who stole the show for the second year running, making it through to the final before succumbing to the pressure.
And to give the teams knocked out in earlier round a second trophy, the Plate Competition, was organised.
Around 600 spectators turned out to witness over five hours of excellent rugby.
In addition the referees selected the Player of the Series. The referees had an excellent day. In fast and furious encounters no player was sent off and only one yellow card issued.
Results: Main Competition: Semi-finalists: Queensbury 30 v Milnrow 12; Blackpool RU 16 v Widnes 10. Final: Queensbury 30 v Blackpool RU 14. Plate Competition: Semi-finalists: Seaton 16 v Spotland 20; Mayfield 10 v Adlington 16. Final: Spotland 28 v Adlington 22.
