PROFITS at Sainsbury supermarkets slumped 23 per cent over the last year.
The group, which has stores in Darwen, Clitheroe, and Burnley, reported profits were down to £580 million, from £755 million last year.
Sales and profits jumped at the group's Homebase DIY business and its US business, Shaw's, but its UK supermarkets business saw profits fall, hit by price competition and higher staff and property costs.
