A TEARFUL Heysham mother has sent a heartfelt message to her missing 14-year-old daughter "Lindsey, please come home."
Citizen paper girl Lindsey Whaymen disappeared after delivering the last of her newspapers last Friday and has not been seen by her family since.
She is thought to be with her best friend Linzi Clarkin, 14, from Morecambe, who has also been missing since Friday evening.
Both families and the police have been searching day and night for the two youngsters who go to Morecambe High School.
The teenagers have been spotted in the Slyne Road area of Skerton but as the days pass by their families are growing increasingly distraught.
Lindsey's mum, Elizabeth, made this appeal to her daughter: "We just want to know you are safe. We all miss you. You're not in any trouble. Just give us a call. Your little brothers are upset that their big sister has not come home. Please love, get in touch. We're all really missing you." Lindsey had no extra clothes or money with her when she disappeared on Combermere Road in Heysham at around 7pm on May 26.
She was due to receive a lump sum of money as part of a birthday gift the next day and there are no telltale signs that she was planning to run away.
"She popped into the house for the last of her papers and appeared to be happy," added Lindsey's mum. "She's not a baby but she's far too young to be out on her own. There were no problems at home and her friend's family can't understand it either. We're all devastated. We've been out day and night looking for them both and have handed out leaflets to shops and local bus drivers. We are really worried that they haven't been in touch - it's not like them."
Lindsey was wearing a white t-shirt with a blue Kickers logo on it, navy track suit bottoms, Adidas trainers and a Lauren polo sweat shirt. Her coat was white with blue and red stripes and her long hair was tied back off her face.
Linzi was wearing a grey track suit, cream trainers with a blue stripe, a green and yellow checked shirt, a cream jumper and a navy blue and red jacket. Her hair was tied up with two bits hanging down.
If you have seen the two teenagers or know of their whereabouts call the police on 63333 or the Citizen editorial team on 382121.
