ALL three lanes of the M6 motorway were temporarily closed on Tuesday this week after a car and ambulance collided.
The accident happened at 2.43pm at Longridge, just north of junction 31 on the northbound carriageway.
PC Booth from Lancashire Constabulary's motorway police unit explained that the car was being driven by a 71-year-old man from Lancaster.
The man, who did not wish to be named, escaped with minor injuries after colliding with the ambulance. The ambulance was being driven by a woman from Leyland and she was accompanied by a male passenger.
PC Booth said: "I don't wish to name anyone who was involved at this stage as we are still investigating the cause of the accident."
He went on to say that all three lanes were closed for around 15 minutes while the car was dragged from the carriageway, and disruption to traffic was minimal.
