BACUP Borough have presented Nicky Taylor with a special award to mark his achievement in being named the FNWTL Second Division player of the year for the second successive season.

The talented teenager was awarded the Jason Ross Memorial Trophy -- presented in memory of former Borough midfielder Jason Ross who was tragically killed in a road accident last year.

Taylor brought a host of scouts flocking to West View last season following a number of impressive displays for Borough.

And manager Brent Peters was delighted to see the 18-year-old become the first recipient of the special new award.

"It was a fitting end to a very successful season for both the club and the player," said Peters. Taylor was presented with the award at the club's end of season awards night.

Paul Lyons was voted the PC Tyres Bacup Borough Committee player of the year.

And the Beta Automotives players' player award went to Jimmy Gemmill.

The Stuart Clough-sponsored manager's player of the year went to Damian Moran.

And Stuart Farnell won the Duncan Brown Glass leading scorer award. Michael Tighe won the most improved player award and the reserve team player of the year was Paul Waine.

Chris Skarratt took the reserve team manager's award and there was also a special presentation to long-serving secretary Frank Manning.

Taylor's award was sponsored by Mitchells Mobile Phones.
