MORE than 80 volunteers united to do their bit for the environment, when they carried out a "spring clean" of Sankey Valley in St Helens.
The 'Parr Churches Together' clean-up campaign was organised with the help of the St Helens-based Sankey NOW River Valley Initiative and united eight local churches and their associated schools.
More than 60 bin bags of rubbish was collected between Carr Mill Dam and the Parr Flashes in just two hours and the day was rounded off with a 'Songs of Praise' style event on Blackbrook playing fields.
