YOUNG members of the cubs pack based at St James Church in Eccleston Park have gone right to the top in their bid to help less-privileged youngsters.

They have written to Prime Minister, Tony Blair calling on him to cancel the Third World debt, which, it is believed causes the deaths of about 19,000 children every day because money that could be used for health care is instead ploughed into interest payments.

Reverend Harry Welch, vicar of St James, said: "It is this kind of awareness and local campaigning that has collectively raised the debt issue onto the world agenda. For our cubs to have such a strong sense of social justice for their peer group in other countries is a credit to them and an example people of all age groups would do well to follow."
