PUPILS of St Mary's Catholic Primary School, in Claughton on Brock, have teamed up with Wyre Countryside Service to breathe new life into the neglected school pond.
They used nets to investigate what plant and animal life exists beneath the surface and found there were very few plants and a build-up of silt caused by leaves falling from overhanging trees, which also block the light.
The pond will now be raked out regularly by pupils, teachers, parents and Wyre rangers and new plants introduced, as part of an overall grounds improvement project.
